Changing Jobs? Use Your Vision Benefits Before It’s Too Late!

Posted Aug 9, 2018 | Eye Health

Congrats, you got a new job! Things are winding down and you’re about to update your LinkedIn profile. But, wait, you might be forgetting something!

Did you use your frame allowance this year? It might seem like small potatoes when you’re making a huge career transition, but don’t leave money (or new eyewear) on the table. Your compensation package includes your vision benefits, so you should use them before you lose them.

Here’s how to maximize your current vision plan before you change jobs:

1. Get your annual eye exam.

Scheduling your eye exam before starting a new job is a great idea because it’ll be one less thing to worry about. In the first year of a new job, it’s easy to neglect your annual healthcare exams. Go ahead and make your life easier by getting your eye exam before things ramp up.

2. Use your frame allowance.

While you’re at your eye doctor’s office, make sure to use any frame allowances you have left. Already have glasses you love? Look for a pair of prescription sunglasses instead!
If you don’t have time to visit your eye doctor before your benefits expire, Eyeconic is a great way to use your vision benefits without leaving your house. There’s even a Virtual Try-On tool you can use to make sure your glasses or sunglasses are the perfect fit.

3. Find a new doctor.

Once you’re killing it in your new role, you should find out if you have the same vision benefits that you did through your old job. If not, you may have to find a new eye doctor. Don’t worry, if you have VSP, Cigna, or MetLife vision insurance, you can always use our handy Find a Doctor tool to find a doctor near you.

Now that you know how to maximize your vision benefits, we have a few frames from Eyeconic we think will pair perfectly with your super profesh vibes.

Crush it in Chloé. Ok, we’ll admit we have a few ladies at our office who wear these frames. Why? Because they’re sophisticated, stylish, and look great on every face. We love the tortoise and gold combo.
